"Sweeter the Juice” is an ongoing project recognizing and celebrating beauty in the darker hue. It stems from an old saying I heard growing up, the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice. Said as often in response to a negative comment about one’s skin color as much as referring to actual berries, it was a quick retort to take the sting out of being called black. I am actively looking for new subjects to add to the project (which will become a traveling exhibition).
